The Straits Times understands that someone threw the liquid at Mr Seng, 58, while he was at grassroots event at Yio Chu Kang commmunity club.

Mr Seng was burnt on his face, neck and back.

Another man, said to be the chairman of a temple, was also hurt and has been brought to SGH.

The suspect, believed to be a man, has been arrested.
