Student leader for the pro-democracy demonstration that happened in Hong Kong in September 2014 ha been denied entry into Malaysia, where he was supposed to be speaking at an event.

The Scholarism Facebook page, managed by the student group that led the protests, better known as the Yellow Umbrella movement, indicated that Wong had arrived at Malaysian immigration, and had his passport checked by the local customs officers.

However, he was detained and asked to assist with investigations, and was subsequently denied entry and had to return to Hong Kong. The Malaysian authorities supposedly did not give any reason for the denial of entry.

Wong was supposed to be speaking at an event in Malaysia to commemorate the Tienanmen Square massacre.
