Passengers travelling on the East-West line was was affected by delays in train after several jewellery pieces caused a door fault at 8am on Wednesday.

A reader wrote to TOC to inform of the train fault which was said to have occured at around 7.45am to 8.15am.

“Trains travelled at slower speeds and passengers at Chinese Garden were asked to detrain and board two additionally deployed trains to continue with their journey,” said SMRT Corporate Information and Communications Vice President Patrick Nathan in a statement to media.

“Our technicians later retrieved some jewellery pieces (an earring and two beads), which caused the door to jam,” he added.

There were no announcements on SMRT’s social media accounts about the additional travelling time when the train fault occured.
