PM does special video to thank fans for two years on social media
Posting a video on his Facebook page, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong thanked Singaporeans for supporting his social media efforts for the past two years. “Thank you very much for reading my posts, commenting on them, liking them, sharing them with your friends. I appreciate it a lot. We hope you will continue to read and go on a journey with us together,” he wrote. The video was not one of the many “A Look Back” Facebook 10th anniversary videos that were produced earlier this year, and appears to be a specially produced piece. In it, the PM featured many of his social media highlights, including the owl that got into the Istana.

Singapore and Indonesia moving on after “face value” apologies
After a few rounds of back and forth between the armed forces of Indonesia and Singapore over the naming of an Indonesian ship after the two marines who bombed MacDonald House in the 1960s, both parties, Singapore’s Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen opined that it was time to mend ties. This comes after Indonesia’s army chief clarified that he did not apologies for the naming of the vessel, amidst confusion propagated by a report in Channel NewsAsia.
Minister Ng indicated that Singapore would accept Indonesia’s apology “at face value”. “Sometimes, we may not fully understand the ways of others, but as long as we continue with our own stand and others understand us, I believe that is a very strong basis for us to build relationships with others,” he was reported as saying.
 
New PAP faces at Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC
Two new People’s Action Party members were believed to be walking the ground at Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC over the weekend. They were Mr Chong Kee Hiong, 48, chief executive of OUE Hospitality REIT Management, and Mr Saktiandi Supaat, 40, head of foreign exchange research at Maybank. It is not clear if these members would be fielded in the next general elections, but their appearance comes after Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said the PAP’s potential candidates were already active on the ground. Neither of these members denied that they might be asked to contest.
 
Malaysia Airlines plane lands safely after malfunction of landing gear
Malaysia Airlines flight MH192 has landed safely in Kuala Lumpur international airport after turning back due to problems with its landing gear. This incident follows the mysterious disappearance of MH370, which was carrying 12 Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers on 8th March 2014. Till today, the plane has not been found and the search for MH370 continues.
